Following last December when our service operator Andy Moore won Attendant of the Year at the Loo of the Year Awards, he has become famous on construction sites in Surrey and Hampshire! A Guide to Good Practice in Waste Disposal

We all have responsibility in making sure liquid waste is disposed of safely and correctly. HSE guidelines state that “There should be clear procedures for the collection, transport, segregation and disposal of offensive/hygiene wastes.”

Here's a few pointers on how to dispose waste responsibly.

1. Companies dealing with waste disposal should adhere to environment policies to ensure minimal pollution and environmental impact. The different types of pollution that could be caused through poorly disposed sewage are:

• Water pollution ie. Contamination due to flooding
• Odour pollution
• Unwanted pests 

2. It is good practice to make sure your waste is being transported to an authorized site. Most importantly, ensure the servicers you use hold a waste carriers licence issued by The Environment Agency.

3. A detailed record should be kept to document all waste transfers, including a description, details of the disposers and time/date of transfer.

Amy has said 'I am shocked and honored to be shortlisted for this award, I have just worked my hardest and hoped by ideas and productivity has helped improve the business and the service we offer to our customers'. Amy started at Loos R Us and Site Equip in early 2013, working here previously during summer holidays and part-time. She now currently oversees all aspects of the office, including sales, marketing and HR departments, whilst studying for her HR Management Certificate from CIPD. Emergency Units Deployed During Storms

Site Equip have been working alongside local councils, emergency response units, the MOD and the environment agency to provide residence and troops with welfare facilities throughout the tragic storms. We have been able to supply the community with portable chemical toilets, showers and somewhere to take refuge in, a welfare unit which comprise a kitchen, seating area, toilet, and generator and drying room. Our quick emergency response has enabled the facilities to be provided when they are most needed, including at weekend and evenings. Site Equip think it’s fantastic how the local community have come together to help each other throughout this difficult time, something which we have enjoyed being a part of.
